Stonehenge in the early stages

Originally the site contained about 162 stones. Half of those original stones are still standing today.
The site was even being used as far as 8000 B.C. for special purposes that were important to that particular civilization.
There are fifteen centuries of construction for the site and during these fifiteen centuries it has been found that many different groups of prehistoric people inhabited the area around stonehenge. there are, however, no written records of life by this monument so researchers have to find information through data gathered at grave sites.
The early stages of stonehenge the people who lived there were nomads, which are people who live in small groups and preffer to move following a migration pattern or cycles of the seasons.
Life in prehistoric days were fairly short as someone of the age of thirty years was considered old. That being said Stonehenge was most likely built by teenagers of people in their early twenties. Forty percent of people in this civilization died before they reached twenty years of age. This all corresponds to the bones that have been found at the site.

There are many different circular structures all over England and Ireland that have been used for ceremonial purposes. The circular shape to these structures is a trend of civilizations in the prehistoric times. Stonehenge, however, is the only circular structure in which stones were brought from great distances and where lentils, or the stones that lay horizontal over two vertical stones were used.
